=== LOT Call-of-Proposal: 2024C Semester === This is call-of-proposal for Lulin One-meter Telescope (LOT) for Semester 2024C (from 01 September to 31 December, 2024). The proposal is divided into two categories: Education -- use the latex template given in LOT_Proposal_Education.zip for this category. Research -- use the latex template given in LOT_Proposal_Research.zip for this category. Deadline: *** 31 July 2024 (before midnight local Taiwan time) *** Please sent your proposal(s), the latex file and an additional one-page of Figures and/or Tables, to me by email: ycpan@gm.astro.ncu.edu.tw IMPORTANT MESSAGE: (A) Following nights are not available. If you targets can be observed near full moon, we may still allocate these dates depending on the schedule. 18 Sep -- Engineering/Full Moon 17 Oct -- Engineering/Full Moon 16 Nov -- Engineering/Full Moon 15 Dec -- Engineering/Full Moon (B) UVEX spectrograph is now open for general use. Please see the instrumental page on Lulin website for more details. (C) LATTE is now open for general use by NCU users. LATTE is a 50cm telescope in TAOS-A enclosure and can be operated fully remotely. Its FoV is 44’ by 33’ and rotatable. The pixel scale is 0.45 arcsec. Filter array contains Johnson-Cousins B,V,R,I broadband filters, Ha and [OIII] 5nm narrow-band filters, and a visible light white-light super-broadband filter. The BVRI filters are of square-shaped passbands (see filter curves in http://tinyurl.com/bdebjzf3). 1-hr 5-sigma limiting magnitudes are between 22.5 and 23.2 (Vega) in B,V,R, under typical conditions. In the first few trimesters, we will offer time in the share-risk mode, for the users and LATTE to get familiar with each other. In this call for proposal, we offer a total of up to 20 nights to NCU users under dark and gray conditions. More nights can be offered around full moon, if there are observations that can tolerate the moonlight. If you wish to use LATTE for your program, please select it as your instrument in the Latex template. Please contact whwang@asiaa.sinica.edu.tw if more information about LATTE is needed. (D) The LOT CCD imager has now been replaced with Sophia 2048B. (E) Starting 2021A Semester for the nights that Lulin CCD imager is equipped, about sum of up to 1 hour might be shared/used by a special/filler program. If you don't want to share nights, please mark "NO" in Section 13 (the default is "YES"). Note: the 1-hour filler program may not be continuous. The purpose is to fill the gap of the main observing program. (F) Proposals using LISA or UVEX spectrograph are required to have observer(s) going to Lulin Observatory. Please also note that it is currently not possible to exchange the instruments at the same night due to the instrumental limitation. (G) We strongly encourage observers (especially students) to be presented at the Lulin Observatory, instead of queue observing. (H) For proposal(s) re-submitted from past semesters, please address TAC comments. Proposal(s) that do not show improvement will be rejected. (I) The typical proprietary period of data is 5 years. (J) The proposed number of on-site observers should not exceed 17. Please contact the Lulin staffs directly (before submitting the proposal) if you would like to propose more than 17 observers. (K) Please indicate in the proposal if the PI of the program may bring extra people to observe on site (even if it is not confirmed yet). This is to inform the observing staffs prior to your observation to facilitate the arrangement of accommodation. Note that late submission will NOT be accepted. For information regarding LOT and/or available instruments, please check Lulin's website (www.lulin.ncu.edu.tw) or consult with Lulin observing staff (lulinobsstaff@gm.astro.ncu.edu.tw) ToO policy: * maximum 2 hr ToO interruption per night; please negotiate/inform the original PI in advance * please sent the ToO request to Lulin observing staff (lulinobsstaff@gm.astro.ncu.edu.tw) * the original PI/observer remained the right to accept/decline ToO The accepted proposals and schedule for 2024C Semester will be announced at Lulin's website (www.lulin.ncu.edu.tw) in mid-August 2024. Acknowledgment: LOT users are required to include the following statement in their publication: "This publication has made use of data collected at Lulin Observatory, partly supported by MoST grant 109-2112-M-008-001" PS: Please let me know if you encounter problems on the latex templates.
